SECONDARY RHINOPLASTY

Secondary rhinoplasty needs to be performed when the primary procedure turns out to be unsuccessful. There could be several reasons for failure of primary rhinoplasty which could be related to the skill of the surgeon or nasal anatomy such as inflammation or epistaxis. A secondary rhinoplasty needs be performed only after careful examination of the entire nasal area which includes a soft ray radiographic examination of the osteocutaneous profile.
Secondary or revision rhinoplasty becomes necessary for around 5 to 12% of the patients who have undergone rhinoplasty where some of the patients just require minor changes whereas others only require major modifications.
Secondary rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult forms of cosmetic surgery as it requires correcting mistakes while facing the same problems which lead to undesirable results after conduct of first surgery.
